In my last post I told you guys about our first stop, Sillary Gaon. Our next stop was Mankhim. A little higher in altitude than our last stop, Mankhim gives you the view of the majestic Kanchenjunga. Though the climate was cloudy when we went, because monsoons had not yet ended on the mountains and we were doubtful if we would be able to see our Kanchenjunga, she did not disappoint us. A fifteen minute glimpse right after sunrise, but that was enough. It made every penny spent worth it. It was a pity that my camera was back in my room and I had to click the picture through my phone and I had to zoom in to get the picture.
Though in terms of atmosphere and landscape, Mankhim doesn't differ much from Sillary Gain, except that the forest here is more dense, Mankhim has her own appeal. There is a path that goes all the way from the top of the hill, where the viewpoint and home-stays are located, to a lake down below. The path has been paved with rocks and has been guarded with railings, so it's safe but do watch out for leeches. What's remarkable about the path is that is goes through the jungle. If you're a jungle lover like me, do take a walk along this one. The path is rather a long one, but you won't get exhausted, the jungle atmosphere won't let you. Walking through the misty forest gives you a Tarzan feel. Irepeat, if you love forests, so not miss this one!

Like I said before, we arrived at atime when the monsoon hadn't yet ended in the mountains, so it was really foggy. But during the evening, the fog enveloped the entire hill, thus creating a mysterious atmosphere. If you guys visit Mankhim during such times, you might get enough plot-points for a horror or mystery novel from the evening atmosphere around the home stays... Or maybe, even a real mystery... Who knows? ;)
