Beautiful is just an understatement when we're talking about the entire silk route tour.. No I didn't travel all the way to China, I'm talking the part of the historic silk route which lies in north Bengal and parts of Sikkim. If you're looking for a place where you can be all alone, just you and the mesmerising beauty of nature, this is the place. Oh, and the hospitality of the locals. I mean, add up everything that comes to your mind when you think of a calm and quiet getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life in the lap of the picturesque Himalayas. Basically you can't visit this place without a tour agent, and I'd recommend you to contact someone who's from here. They will practically guide you through the entire tour. The main attraction of the entire package is the zig zag road, rest points have been added up to get a place for halting, but boy! Are these added points beautiful! The entire tour can be done in any order of the places. I'll tell you about the order in which we did the tour.
It started off from Sillary Gaon, a small village in north Bengal. It's relatively on a low altitude so you won't be able to see the magnificence of Kanchenjunga from here, but it won't disappoint with its own flavour. The misty atmosphere, the concert of crickets and the surrounding jungle, almost makes your inner bathroom singer self get an exposure. Sing out loud! Just see to it you don't kill the animals with your voice. Just kidding, heh. Just lay lazily on your chair and watch the mist flow from your balcony, and listen to the song of the mild breeze. If you're much of a "touch and feel the atmosphere" person, like me, take a walk through the forests. The fog hung from the tall trees would surely make you wanna settle here forever. Just watch out for leeches, they're quite a trouble there. Have a sumptuous meal, and get a sound sleep. All in all, this place is a treat to your heart...
